Who we are What we do
The Kouts Volunteer Fire Department provides Fire Suppression, Rescue, Extrication, HAZMAT, and Emergency Medical Service response to more than four thousand four hundred and thirty two (4,432) residents in a fifty four (54) square mile rural area. Our entire response area is experiencing rapid residential growth. Our Fire Department responds to approximately two hundred sixty (260) calls annually in our service area, which includes emergency response coverage to the Town of Kouts and Pleasant Township in Porter County, Indiana. Our Fire Department’s membership is made up of twenty-nine (29) Volunteer Firefighters. Critical infrastructure considerations within our jurisdiction include several underground pipelines, two (2) township schools, a center for youth, and water treatment facilities for the Town of Kouts. Our Department is also a first due mutual aid Company to a major electric generation facility in a bordering jurisdiction.
